GORGOROTH is booked and confirmed on the Hole in the Sky 2003 metal festival. The festival takes place in their hometown Bergen, from August 29th till the 30th. Other bands booked on the festival are CARPATHIAN FOREST, TAAKE, MALIGNANT ETERNAL, FROZEN CRIES, SATYRICON and SAMAEL.

SINISTER -- Long-running Dutch death metallers SINISTER have parted ways with guitarist Pascal Grevinga and bassist Alex. Ron van de Polder, who was involved in the songwriting process for 1992's Cross The Styx and this year's Savage Or Grace, has been named the group's permanent guitarist. Polder, singer Rachel Heyzer and drummer Aad Kloosterwaard have already started composing material for their next studio album, Heaven Termination, tentatively due in early 2004. In addition, the trio recently formed a "sick death metal" side project called INFINITE HATE, which has completed an album's worth of songs for an as-yet-undetermined label.

2003 STONER HANDS OF DOOM Festival -- The scheduled three day festival will take place in Portland, Oregon at Berbati's Pan, kicking off Friday, August 29th, running through Sunday, August 31st. The annual SHOD (Stoner Hands of Doom) Festival has featured the best stoner rock, sludge, doom metal, and rock & roll bands from around the world since its inception in 1998. The 2003 SHOD Festival will feature upwards of 35 acts and will see "themed" evenings constitute the festival's scheduling. Friday, August 29th is slated as the "Day of Ultimate Doom" featuring sets from SUNN0))), Floor and Morgion. Saturday is dedicated to "All Things Rock", with Porn (the Men Of) and Bottom providing the finale, and Sunday night is "Ladies Night," celebrating seven bands that contain women dedicated to making extreme music. Sunday's lineup will feature AmberAsylum, Totimoshi, Subarachnoid Space and Wormwood amongst others.
